My Son (half day tour)

My Son (half day) (08:00am to 1.00pm)

Your driver and guide will meet you at your hotel in Hoi An at 8.00am. Start tour by driving to Tra Kieu village which was the site for the first capital city of the Champa Kingdom.

Tra Kieu was first called by its Hindu name “Simhapura” which means “Lion Citadel”. It was built in the fourth century although time and the ravages of war damaged it.

There is a Catholic Church standing on Buu Chau Hill overlooking the site where the old capital city stood.

Tra Kieu is believed to have been the administration center of the Cham Kingdom whilst My Son was the spiritual center where religious ceremonies were held and where the kings and other royal family members were buried.

From Tra Kieu we continue our tour and drive to My Son Holy City. We arrive at My Son to see the Cham Dance performance by local dancers (every day 9:30, 10:30 & 1:30pm).

We have a short open air classroom style induction to get an overview of the site and its history. Then your guide will take you around all the different temple sites in the My Son complex. Most of the 70 odd temple structures that have been identified range from the fourth to fifteenth century. During the walk we stop and also see the small museum which houses some excellent artifacts.

Tour guide returns you to your hotel. Finish of tour – around 1.00pm
